A few of our past puppies

We take the placement of our puppies seriously. We want you and the puppy to be happy---for a long time. We want to match the right puppy to the “right family”.  Many people do not realize that the personalities of puppies begin to show at just a few weeks of age. Thus, we get to know which ones are shy, which ones are the first to try new things, which ones have the most patience, which ones tend to dominate their littermates, and which ones are the most active. So, even though you may have your heart set on a puppy with a particular color or markings, the specific pup that you inquire about may not be the one most suitable for your particular home/family. This is the reason that we want to learn as much as possible about you and your family from the application.  We are not trying to be nosey!

How reservations work on the litters younger than 7 weeks

We do not want you to choose your pup based exclusively on color and markings; it is the personality or temperament of a pup that is the most important aspect in ensuring that the pup will be the right fit for your family.  So, for litters under 7-8 weeks of age, we accept deposits for 'pick order', rather than for a specific puppy.  First pick is almost always reserved for the DBF program so that we can select pups for show/ breeding potential.  After DBF has decided which pups may be kept longer, the remaining pups in the litter will be offered as pets/companions or for performance.  By this time, we will know something about the pups' coats, estimated sizes, and their individual personalities.  A puppy good for a big noisy family with young children may be different than one for an older couple who want a 'cuddle bug' for the sofa.  We can help you make these choices.  Your deposit can be moved to any available pup or other litter at any time.  But we will start out by assigning you to a litter of your choice based on the parents and numbers of each sex in the litter.  Do not worry if you are listed as third pick; it may be your first pick anyway because some people want smaller, some bigger; some want more coat, some want little coat. Some want lots of markings; some want none.  It always seems to work out, and as mentioned, you can move your deposit to any future litter as well.  As DBF chooses the potential show pups, litters will be moved above this section and reservations for specific pups will be indicated.

PUREBRED DOG BREEDER PLEDGE

Being proud purebred dog breeders, we always strive to improve our chosen breed in all ways possible and yet retain the amazing, necessary, historical qualities as they were first developed by the original founders. Many of our breeds boast centuries of lineage, remarkable in both their indispensible performance for mankind and those intensely guarded traits that remain to this day.

As responsible breeders, it is our sole objective to continue to generate extraordinary soundness in mind and body, while producing dogs that conform to the written accepted standard of their country, otherwise known as the blueprint for the breed. A purebred dog breeder must wear many hats, not the least of which is being a primary defender of their selected breed. Litters are carefully produced using all means available, which includes, but is not limited to, continual ongoing genetic testing and necessary medical intervention, ensuring that each puppy starts its' life as a thriving canine good citizen. Further, the careful choice of prospective owners who will continue to nurture and support their puppy and the breed throughout the life of the dog is paramount. This selection process can be demanding but is necessary in order to guarantee that our puppies are treasured and respected. As responsible breeders, we pledge that each and every puppy/dog that we sell can be returned to us, at any stage of their life, if the owner is unable or in any way reluctant to retain their dog. In this way, we can unequivocally declare that dogs produced by us cannot, nor should they, become wards of the rescue system. By maintaining a strict return policy, we can sustain our breed(s). This protector approach is employed by all responsible purebred breeders of distinction and is our assurance that our puppies and dogs are carefully and thoughtfully homed and cannot slip through the cracks into obscurity.

Educated promotion and protection is mandatory in preventing the innumerable homeless dogs that must be 'rescued' because no one cared. We take great pride in knowing that our puppies and dogs are safe and secure with their owners. If there is a breech in the contractual structure, we remain confident that we make the correct choice for their continued life by insisting on return without judgment.

This is the true declaration of all responsible breeders. It is not considered lightly but rather is a profound and determined guarantee that our purebred dogs will have lifelong sanctuary in the care of a true and faithful human guardian. To do any less is not enough!!
